"If you don't risk anything you risk even more."
-Erica Jong
Life is worth living. It is worth the experience to get burned and to be scarred. There is no guarantee but right now. Tackle the challenges you always knew you could. Take on something that scares you. Nervousness and anxiety are signs that you are living. The rush you get from accomplishing something you never thought you could is how you get high on life. Do not watch as the days go by and as the world spins your existence away. Even if you do not attain that goal or conquer that fear it is the experience of trying and what you learn from your efforts that will shape you. The effort you put in will be worth the reward, even if the reward is not what you set out for it to be.

My Sentiments Exactly. My endeavors at this time have put me in line with this consciousness, more than ever in my life.
just to be devils advocate...where do you draw the line? where does experience become stupidity? is it possible that in trying to cheat nature, you are cheating your life, and therefore bringing yourself to a premature death? when does risk become unecessary and not worth the outcome? is extreme experience worth the amount of risk?
Cheat Nature? I do not understand this statement. Perhaps, you think I am only discussing the picture in my paragraph when I was really discussing the quote by Jong.
I was speaking about starting that course you always wanted to, talking to that person you always wanted to, taking that trip, putting yourself out there etc... Attempting something you thought you could not handle and the experience you gain from just trying was what I was implying.
In my opinion no experience is stupid if you or someone else gain something positive or make progress, even if you die. Would you rather be afraid of the premature death you speak of and be safe? Or would you rather fully develop into who you truly are?
I would rather die young then not take chances and risks in order to learn about who I am and what I can attain and accomplish.
i agree completely. by cheating nature i was referring to a few different things. i think people should only take risks that they can handle. you have to be in a certain mindset to be able to fully experience what it is you are doing. there are recreational activities that are taking risks, but should only be done by people who are mentally prepared to handle the experience and take it for what it is.
