The Value of American Values
Are we undermining our own value as a union of people; not only in monetary value but in how we value each other as beings? A state where we do not protect our fellow American from discrimination, persecution, destruction, deception, and oppression, is not a true state of the people for the people, is it? A state where citizens value money more than the survival of their fellow statesmen and neighbors, cannot be any better than the barbaric tribes or enslaving rulers the enlightened freed themselves from, can it? A state that allows its elected officials to seize the opportunity to put financial gains and personal advancement ahead of the education and health of the people who elect them, can surely not stand the test of time, can it? What good is a few dozen wealthy Americans?
Our collective understanding of what is happening to the people of our union is a sad state. Nations are states; but the most important state to protect is the state of mind where we see the success of all fellow citizens as interconnected and detrimental to our own personal survival.
