The Apathy Of Our World

OR

The older I get the more I am disappointed with our society and the rules and games that come with it. The attitude that people bring is heartbreaking for an idealist like myself. I observe my surroundings carefully and analyze the incidents of my day. More and more I see individuals only worried about what happens to them and them alone. On all levels. There are selfish leaders who only govern and rule so that they may become even more wealthier then they already are. Then there are the tired citizens who are so stuck in their routines in order to meet the demands and needs of profession and family that they do not take the precious moments needed to experience and enjoy the culture of their times. Lets not forget businesses who only care about the bottom line and not their customers. Having millions of customers using their products does not give a company the right to charge and tax as they please. Making up rules of interest and time periods for credit and refunds in order to squeeze every penny out of their most important consumers should not replace quality customer service. Insurance companies, lawyers etc. People talk bad of these professions because they profit off of the sad happenings of others. Not only are they primarily concerned about that. They will also encourage and employ dishonesty to maximize the potential earnings of the situation. Every sector and field is full of this dishonorable behavior and no one does anything about it because if someday they are to be in the position to gain they want the same rules to apply. It is very sad that most only care about how they can benefit alone.

I know capitalism offers everyone a chance to compete and for that chance I am most thankful, however, I will never trade in my values and principles for opportunities of advancement. If I am wronging someone to move ahead then really they have been pushed back and I am still standing where I was. The welfare and success of all the people is tied into every individual.

Honor, loyalty, and righteousness still have a place... don't they? What is right is right...right?

Abe Had An Understanding

"When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion."

"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing."

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

"It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues."

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."

"Tact is the ability to describe others as they see themselves."

"The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just."

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

"Whatever you are, be a good one."

These ideas and thoughts are just a few of the reasons why Abe Lincoln rose from a very modest youth to become one of most influential and important humans to have ever existed.

The Beauty Of Existence

Light Echoes From a Red Supergiant

This Hubble Space Telescope image of the star V838 Monocerotis reveals dramatic changes in the illumination of surrounding dusty cloud structures. The effect, called a light echo, unveiled never-before-seen dust patterns when the star suddenly brightened for several weeks in early 2002.

By contrast, V838 Monocerotis did not expel its outer layers. Instead, it grew enormously in size. Its surface temperature dropped to temperatures that were not much hotter than a light bulb. This behavior of ballooning to an immense size, but not losing its outer layers, is very unusual and completely unlike an ordinary nova explosion.

The outburst may represent a transitory stage in a star's evolution that is rarely seen. The star has some similarities to highly unstable aging stars called eruptive variables, which suddenly and unpredictably increase in brightness.

V838 Monocerotis is located about 20,000 light-years away from Earth in the direction of the constellation Monoceros, placing the star at the outer edge of our Milky Way galaxy.

Thanks to NASA and the amazing things that they create. Their inventions offer a chance to see the true origins in which we came as well as look ahead at the demise that we will one day face. Whether it is the beginning or the end, I think it sure looks beautiful

Go For It

"If you don't risk anything you risk even more."
-Erica Jong

Life is worth living. It is worth the experience to get burned and to be scarred. There is no guarantee but right now. Tackle the challenges you always knew you could. Take on something that scares you. Nervousness and anxiety are signs that you are living. The rush you get from accomplishing something you never thought you could is how you get high on life. Do not watch as the days go by and as the world spins your existence away. Even if you do not attain that goal or conquer that fear it is the experience of trying and what you learn from your efforts that will shape you. The effort you put in will be worth the reward, even if the reward is not what you set out for it to be.

Voices In Our Head

"Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well." -Mahatma Gandhi

Does is it matter what we think? Do the thoughts we have really play any part in the outcomes of our lives.? Is there a higher power that hears your thoughts? Does thinking about others affect your karma? Can a person be the nicest most unselfish person outwardly while having thoughts of hate and disgust for others internally? Can a person wish and want something so bad that they can make it happen just by thinking it? What do you think?

Let It Go

"Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. " - Buddha

It is not easy to forgive or to forget but in the end I believe it is worth the release of negative energy. Carrying around old feelings of defeat or constantly remembering and reminding yourself of the broken promises of the ones you cared for will only cause you to be an unhappy person. Forgiveness is for the giver not the receiver. A person should not spend their life trying to avoid someone or to forget them because of a wrong-doing. Truly, this type of behavior will lead to a life that is unfulfilled and I believe it will also cut your life short.

When you do forgive someone and when you do decide to move past a hardship with someone you care for then you will feel much more liberated then they. Even if you decide to never speak or see them "letting it go" will help free you and put your mind and body at ease. Take on the the troubles and problems you have with people when you have them. Do not let miscommunication or misunderstanding prevent you from being happy.

While saying to someone that "its okay" can feel like you are saying the wrong they have done was alright, it is the smarter and healthier person that knows this is what is best for them. Plus, there is always the chance that the situation can be an experience of learning for both parties and can even lead to greater understanding and even stronger relationships.

Do not waste time avoiding those you do deep down care for.
